is an American comedy-drama sitcom created by Jonathan D.
The cast has five lead main characters that the plots
are lead by. Mack Dylan Cooper is the series lead. He is the main
protagonist. His father owns the island. Penelope Ann Huff is the
main antagonist of the series. She has a major crush on Mack and is
not afraid to show it. She is truly evil and tried to destroy
Dominican Republic twice. Devon Jonson is Mack's half brother and was
the secondary antagonist for the first season. After that he is just
shown to have relationship problems. Chloe Jones is Mack's main love
interest. She and Penelope have a huge rivalry. They clashed right
from the start. Chloe and Mack dated for the whole first season. They
were enemies for the second. They became friends for the third and
present. Finally, there is Trevor Mitchel. He is Mack's best friend
and Chloe's ex-admirer. Secondary main characters included, Stephanie
Williams, Penelope, Chloe, and Jo's older friend and Devon's
girlfriend, then ex-girlfriend, then wife. Jo Martinez, who is the
friend of Penelope, Chloe, and Stephanie and the cousin of Portland
and Cortland Madison and sister of Larry Martinez. Jo leaves after
season one. Portland Madison is made as Jo Martinez's replacement for
season two. She is Trevor Mitchel's girlfriend, then wife, then late
wife. Portland was struck by lightning in the season two finale.
Angie Page plays as Mack's new girlfriend from the Springs rival
island, the Blings. Veronica joins the series during season three as
Penelope's new best friend.
Production
The idea of the series was created in August 2010. The
series was intended to be a full drama format but was later changed
to comedy and drama. The lead character's name was originally gonna
be Chad. It was later changed to Mackenzie. It was then shortened to
Mack. Devon was intended to be the main antagonist but it was later
changed to Penelope and Devon was the secondary antagonist. The first
five main characters written and developed were Mack Dylan Cooper
(formally named Chad and then Mackenzie), Penelope Ann Huff, Devon
Jonson, Chloe Jones, and Trevor Mitchel. The next major character
created was named Angie Page (formally known as Juliet van Hussein).
She was meant to be Mack's second and third season girlfriend and to
appear in seven episodes. She was later upgraded to a main character
starting with season 2. Principal Higginbottom was a recurring role
but later upgraded to a main character but later downgraded back down
to the recurring role. One week before the series began, a sixth main
character was developed named Stephanie Williams. She was a main
character for the first two seasons. Starting with season 3, she was
downgraded to a recurring role. One day before the series premieres,
a seventh main character is developed named Jo Martinez. She is a
regular character for the first season. She only appears once in
season two and twice in season three.
Filming
The first season premiered April 16, 2011 to August 11,
2011. The first season was written from April to August 2011. The
second season was written from August to December 2011. It aired from
September 4, 2011 to March 23, 2012. Season 3 was written from
December 2011-June 2012. It first aired June 29, 2012 to January 25,
2012.
Series Synopses and Episodes
The first season aired
from April 16, 2011 to August 11, 2011. The series centers around
Mack Dylan Cooper, Penelope Ann Huff, Devon Jonson, Chloe Jones, and
Trevor Mitchel. It also includes Stephanie Williams and Jo Martinez.
This season focuses on the freshman year at the Springs for Mack,
Penelope, Devon, Chloe, Stephanie, Jo, and Trevor. Mack and Chloe
begin dating which Penelope can't stand. Penelope, with the help of
Devon have been trying to break up Mack and Chloe throughout the
season. During the end of the season, Devon begins dating a girl
named Lilly. She dumps him in the season finale. Trevor, Stephanie,
and Jo are just there to support the others. Trevor dated Natalia
Trunzo, a stuck up snob who was using him to get back at Chloe for an
incident a few years before. Stephanie's main episode was when she
got Mack to pretend to be her boyfriend when her rich and famous
sister Vain visited. Jo Martinez leaves the cast in the nineteenth
episode after winning a skateboarding competition to a foreign
exchange program in Italy. This is Jo Martinez's last season as a
main character.
The second season aired from September 4, 2011 to March
23, 2012. This season focuses on the breakup of Mack and Chloe. Mack
and Chloe move on to new people. Mack starts dating the daughter of
the owner of the Springs rival island “The Blings”. Chloe starts
dating a boy named Lucas. Chloe and Lucas break up midway through the
series after he catches Mack and Chloe kissing. They later reconcile
in the Christmas special. They breakup once more at the end of the
season when Lucas moves to Japan. Devon begins a secret relationship
with Stephanie Williams. They have an off and on relationship
throughout the season. They breakup permanently in the episode before
the finale. Devon tries to get her back three times but he fails.
This is the last season to feature Stephanie Williams as a main
character. Trevor Mitchel begins dating Portland Madison, Jo
Martinez's cousin and replacement. She is killed off in the season
finale when she is electrocuted by lightning in a hot air balloon.
This is Portland Madison's only season as a main character and to be
alive. Stephanie Williams leaves the main cast at the end of the
season and is downgraded to a recurring role for season three.
The third season aired from June 29, 2012 to January 25,
2013. This season focuses on the Mack and Angie continuing their
relationship, Penelope being released from prison and befriending the
school's new bad girl Veronica Morgan, Jade East, and Principal
Higginbottom's daughter Katherine Turner, Devon starting a new
relationship with Reese Bennett and getting concerned about
Stephanie's two new marriages that both fail and with her getting
pregnant during her second, Chloe finds several different loves, one
which includes one of her ex-boyfriends and her rebuilding her
friendship with Mack, Trevor coping with the death of which is later
revealed to be his wife Portland. Mack and Angie's relationship
starts to fail when Mack and Chloe are caught making out. During a
short period of time which Mack and Chloe start dating again but Mack
decides just to stay friends with Chloe and getting back together
with Angie. Angie is later taken away by a tornado but is later found
and Mack and Angie resume where they left off. They are forced to
breakup again when Angie's parents return to retrieve her. Mack has a
hard time getting over Angie afterward. Penelope continues her
ongoing rivalry with Chloe but now with a new best friend named
Veronica Morgan who joins the main cast. She also develops
friendships with Devon's new girlfriend Reese Bennett, Principal
Higginbottom's daughter Katherine Turner, and the evil, deceiving
Jade East. Devon moves on from Stephanie and starts dating Reese
Bennett but finds out Stephanie still has feelings for him. Chloe
moves on from Lucas and goes through a string of relationships that
all end in failure. Angie and Mack's relationship starts to get rocky
and eventually leads to Angie being taken away from the Springs.
Trevor starts to move on from Portland Madison. In the series finale,
Mack finally moves on from Mack to the new girl Rosie Heavenly, right
when Angie moves back. Devon marries his ex-girlfriend Stephanie
Taylor and becomes the new stepfather of her infant daughter Kayla
Taylor.
Characters
In season 1, the main characters include Mack Dylan
Cooper, the series lead protagonist and son of the island of the
“Springs” owner. Then there is the main antagonist Penelope Ann
Huff. She is truly evil and has a major crush on Mack. There is also
Devon Jonson. He is Mack Dylan Cooper's half brother. He is the
secondary antagonist. Then there is Chloe Jones. Chloe is Mack's main
love interest. She and Penelope have a huge rivalry. There is Trevor
Mitchel. He is Mack's best friend and mansion-mate. There is
Stephanie Williams. She is one of Chloe's best friend. She and Mack
don't get along. Finally, there is Jo Martinez. She is another one of
Chloe's friends.
As of the recurring cast goes, the major recurring is
Bertha Scar, one of the other students who go to the Springs. Clair
Higginbottom, the Springs principal. Mr. Smith, one of the Springs
teachers. Tim Bullet, the Springs vice principal. Natalia Trunzo,
Chloe's rival from middle school and Trevor's girlfriend for one
episode. Alana Rivera-Cooper and Mackenzie Dylan Cooper Sr., Mack and
Devon's parents. Larry Martinez, Jo Martinez's brother. Lilly, as
Devon's girlfriend for the final five episodes of the season. And
finally, Sienna Grace, Mack's girlfriend when he and Chloe were
broken up for a short time. Josh Finklestein and Vain Ecoasta only
appear in one episode but make more appearances later in the series.
In season 2, Mack Dylan Cooper, Penelope Ann Huff,
Devon Jonson, Chloe Jones, Stephanie Williams, and Trevor Mitchel
remained in the main cast. Jo Martinez left the cast towards the end
of season 1. Newcomers to the series include Portland Madison who is
Jo's replacement and is revealed to be her cousin. Then there is
Angie Page who is Mack's main love interest of the season.
As of the recurring cast goes, Lilly's role becomes the
most major recurring role in the season. Clair Higginbottom, Bertha
Scar, Larry Martinez, Alana Rivera-Cooper, Mackenzie Dylan Cooper
Sr., Tim Bullet, and Sienna Grace all reprise their recurring roles
this season. Newcomers include, Lucas, Chloe's new love interest.
Cindy and Fred Page, Angie's parents and the owners of the rival
island, the Blings.
In season 3, Mack Dylan Cooper, Penelope Ann Huff,
Devon Jonson, Chloe Jones, Angie Page, and Trevor Mitchel remained in
the main cast. Stephanie Williams left the cast due to Stephanie
being heartbroken after her breakup with Devon. Portland Madison
leaves the cast due to her death in the season finale when she is
struck by lightning. Veronica Morgan joins the cast as Penelope's new
best friend.
As of the recurring cast goes, Clair Higginbottom, Larry
Martinez, and Tim Bullet have the most major recurring roles.
Stephanie Williams is downgraded from the main cast to a major
recurring. Natalia Trunzo returns after no appearances in the second
season. Alana Rivera-Cooper, Mackenzie Dylan Cooper Sr., Cindy Page,
Fred Page, Penny Ann Huff, and Roger Malone all return for guest
appearances. Vain Ecoasta returns for the first time since season 1.
More of Stephanie's family is introduced this season. Her mother
Marissa, her brother Ken, and her other sister Vanessa appear in
several episodes. Cortland Madison returns for one episode. New
recurring characters include Reese Bennett, Devon's new girlfriend,
Ryan Taylor, Stephanie's second husband, J.D. Liz, Stephanie's first
husband which only lasts two months, Craig Gomez, Chloe's boyfriend
for several episodes, Katherine Turner, Principal Higginbottom's
daughter, Chuck Van de West, Veronica's ex-boyfriend and later late
husband after being married for a minute, and Jade East, Penelope's
new evil best friend for four episodes.
